The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
